The advantage of Google+ is the ability to constrain what you post to different circles - and while someone can, optionally, see who is in your circles, they can't tell which circles you have or which a person is in.
I do use facebook, but I lock down all posts to a specific list. Google+ makes it easier to do that, which is nice - and doesn't have all the stupid misleading ads and crap that Facebook has.
I find that LJ has fewer posts over time, which is a bit sad - because longer posts are nice and meaty.
You might find it amusing to check it out and reasonably easy to keep different personas separated, though under the same name...
